CAMES Introductory Course in
Head and Neck Ultrasound
This course introduces head and neck ultrasound and ultrasound-guided intervention skills to specialists and registrars in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
This course is for ENT surgeons interested in improving their basic ultrasound skills or starting to perform ultrasound in their clinical practice. It is also relevant to other specialties performing head and neck ultrasounds, such as endocrinologists, pediatricians, radiologists, etc.
The course will cover ultrasound physics, ultrasound anatomy, and the systematic head and neck ultrasound scan. Further how to use ultrasound in the diagnostic work-up of thyroid, parathyroid, salivary glands, and lymph nodes will also be covered on a basic level. About half of the time is planned for hands-on training on volunteers or phantoms for ultrasound-guided interventions (including fine-needle aspiration biopsies and core needle biopsies). This course is endorsed by The European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB) and corresponds to the first course in the the EFSUMB Level 1 curriculum. It is a non-profit course, and a possible surplus will be used to develop surgeon-performed ultrasound in resource-limited countries in collaboration with the African Head and Neck Society (AfHNS). Please read more about the global outreach project.
We hope to see you in Copenhagen from 28-29th November 2024!
